Connecting Stripe for payments
How Stripe Connect onboarding works in Kyndra, what gets verified, and where the money lands.
How Kyndra handles money
Kyndra never holds your members' money. When a member pays through Kyndra, the funds clear directly to your Stripe Connect account — your business's own Stripe account, linked to Kyndra. Kyndra takes 2% + $0.50 on each card payment; everything else lands in your bank.
This is the safe shape: if Kyndra were to disappear tomorrow, your card-on-file vault, your payout schedule, and your bank link would still be intact. You'd just lose the dashboard around them.
The setup flow
Open Settings → Payments. It shows one of four states:
- Not connected — choose Connect your bank.
- In progress — Stripe needs a few more details (often a date of birth, an SSN last 4, or a business address). Choose Continue setup.
- Connected — you're done. Manage payouts opens your Stripe account.
- Action needed — Stripe paused charges or payouts until it gets more information. When Stripe gives a reason, the page shows that reason instead. Choose Fix requirements.
Connect your bank takes you to a Stripe-hosted form. Fill in your business details (name, address, EIN or SSN, owner DOB, bank account routing/account numbers) and submit. Stripe verifies identity and the bank link — usually under a minute — then brings you back to Settings → Payments, which shows Connected.
What Stripe asks for
Stripe needs enough to satisfy U.S. financial regulations: business legal name, business address, owner identification, and the bank account where payouts land. For sole proprietors that's your name, SSN, and personal bank. For LLCs and corps it's the business EIN plus the owner's identity.
If Stripe adds new requirements later (annual re-verification, tax forms, regulation changes), Kyndra's nightly health check catches it and emails you the moment something new appears — so payouts don't quietly freeze.
Payouts
Stripe defaults to daily payouts on a two-business-day delay. You can change to weekly or monthly in your Stripe dashboard. On Billing, the ⋯ menu → Payouts lists each deposit with the processing fees and refunds taken out of it.
The fees
Two fees apply per member transaction:
- Stripe's processing fee — separate from Kyndra's and set by Stripe. Deducted from each transaction before payout.
- Kyndra's platform fee — 2% + $0.50 per card payment, the same for every studio, with the flat part in your studio's own currency. Charged by Kyndra, also deducted at the transaction.
The deeper math (refunds, chargebacks, bank transfers) lives in charging members + handling refunds.
Common snags
- "My business uses a DBA." Use your legal entity name in Stripe; Kyndra still shows your studio name (DBA) to members on invoices and the portal.
- "My EIN is brand new." Stripe sometimes needs 24-48h for fresh EINs to clear the IRS feed. Try again the next day.
- "I run multiple studios." Each studio in Kyndra connects to its own Stripe Connect account. Money doesn't mingle across studios.
